Following the release of the intense first-person shooter/adventure game, Metro 2033, developer 4A Games and THQ began teasing fans with mention of an upcoming downloadable content pack that would add new weapons, Achievements and a new, more realistic difficulty setting.
Since then, however, no further details have been revealed regarding this new ‘ Ranger Pack’ DLC… until today, when THQ announced a proper release date for the content.
On August 3rd, Metro 2033’s Ranger Pack will become available via Steam for free with a title update, and via Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 240 MS Points.
With the pack, you’ll get new Achievements, two new weapons in the Heavy Automatic Shotgun and the Volt Driver, as well as a new difficulty setting called ‘Ranger Mode,’ which reduces the amount of ammunition available in the world, removes the heads-up display (HUD) and increases weapon damage, all in an effort to make the game more realistic.
Don’t forget that a Metro 2033 sequel was casually announced by THQ’s VP of core games, Danny Bilson, while also mentioning that any such follow-up would be in stereoscopic 3D. Maybe this is why this new DLC has taken so long to release…
