Microsoft UK must be smiling this week, as not only has the company’s Crackdown 2 managed to hold onto the top spot on Chart Track’s Software Sales listing for the second week in a row, but the new and improved Xbox 360 250 GB has pulled off the biggest launch for a ‘revised’ home console in the UK, outperforming both the PS2 Slim and the PS3 Slim during their respective launches.
Chart Track says that the new Xbox 360 recorded over two days of sales comparable to the launch of the original Xbox 360 in late 2005, which the sales tracking firm notes is quite a feat considering the original console launched in two flavours – the Pro and Core.
As mentioned, Crackdown 2 is No. 1 on the software side of things again, despite a 36% drop in sales, almost being edged out by Ubisoft’s Dance on Broadway (sales down 9%), which was only 800 units in sales behind Microsoft’s title this past week.
LEGO Harry Potter (sales down 31%) stepped down to No. 3 from No. 2, while previous chart terrorist, Red Dead Redemption (sales down 19%), moves from No. 3 to No. 4 this week.
The sole debut title on the chart this week, Toy Story 3, impresses with an appearance at No. 5, while last week’s Top Ten charters shuffle one place down to make way – 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa sits at No. 6, Super Mario Galaxy 2 resides at No. 7, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 shifts to No. 8, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is now at No. 9, while Just Dance hangs in at No. 10.
