A fantastic new trailer for Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light has been released, revealing some excellent set-piece action, examples of exploration and puzzle solving, and more looks at further features of the game.
It’s looking quite exciting!
In addition, it’s been revealed that Guardian of Light is a four-week timed-exclusive for the Xbox LIVE Arcade platform, meaning that the planned PS3 and PC versions of the downloadable title will only become available at a later date.
As Crystal Dynamics explains, this release schedule has been put in place in order to participate in Microsoft’s “hugely successful” Summer of Arcade promotion on Xbox LIVE:
“The agreement with Microsoft is, in order to participate in their hugely successful Summer of Arcade promotion, there is a window of exclusivity. That window of exclusivity is a set four weeks.”
The company goes on to explain that a release date has been requested for the PS3 version of Guardian of Light, but they’re still waiting:
“As with all arcade titles, irrespective of platform, you have to go through your submissions before they agree and approve a date. Unlike a disc based title where we can pick our window, you have to go by what the first parties approve and give you a date, to make sure you’re not coming out on the same day as five other titles. They like to manage the release window accordingly.
“We have requested a specific date and hopefully we’ll get that and it’s not too long after the 360 SKU.
