Gameloft’s high definition remake of Earthworm Jim, the classic mid-nineties action platformer, will be available on Xbox LIVE Arcade tomorrow for 800 MS Points.
Earthworm Jim HD will feature all the original levels with an “HD facelift” plus “wild gameplay” and a “remastered cult soundtrack.” There will also be new enemies and three exclusive levels in a never-before-seen location to keep those who played the game on home consoles such as the Mega Drive/Genesis and Super NES busy.
The best news is that you’ll be able to play Earthworm Jim HD, both locally or online, in a new four-player co-op mode. Two to four players will be able to enjoy 15 multiplayer levels – now that’s groovy! Of course the usual online leaderboards and achievements will also be packed into your download.
We’ll end off with a summary of what you’ll be getting from Gameloft: “The exact same groovy game we all loved in the 90’s but with full HD treatment, extra levels and… a multiplayer mode! And what can be better than multiple space-suited earthworms? Don’t strain yourself searching, the answer is: nothing!”
Earthworm Jim HD will also be coming to the PlayStation Network, but we still don’t know when. Until then feel free to flip through our previous coverage for screenshots and trailers that are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
