TikGames and Creat Studios have announced that a new add-on pack for their arcade racer, Smash Cars, will be available on the PlayStation Network next week.
Virus Run will be the first add-on pack DLC for Smash Cars and will set you back $2.99 or €2.99 when it arrives on the North American PlayStation Store on the 8th of June and a week later on the 16th of June on the European PlayStation Store.
Smash Cars: Virus Run will still see players racing radio controlled cars, smashing and crunching the opposition and racing against the clock to cross the finishing line first, but with a twist this time round. It features a new online six-player racing mode where one player is randomly selected to become the group’s foe. Once an ‘infected’ player hits an opponent’s car, they’ll become contaminated too and join the infected player in chasing the other players.
The add-on pack will also include a new local two-player split screen mode and new Skate Park environment where players will be able to perfect tricks on half-pipes and springboards during the Virus Run mode. A free patch will also be available for Smash Cars that will improve the game’s current online multiplayer experience.

“If you thought avoiding angry tourists was a rush, just wait until you’re speeding away from five infected RC cars that are all trying to bring you down!“ said Anatoly Tikhman, Founder and CEO of TikGames, LLC.
“Smash Cars is already jam-packed with action, but add the multiplayer viral twist pushed the excitement even further,” said Vladimir Starzhevsky, co-founder and CEO of Creat Studios, Inc. “We are thrilled to provide new downloadable content updates for PlayStation 3 customers based on their suggestions, and to present another unique addition to our growing list of titles for the Sony PlayStation Network.”
