EA predicts 2010 FIFA World Cup winners and losers with videogame

As is EA’s wont, some folks at the publisher have gone and run some simulations for the upcoming, real-world 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa later this month and have come up with their predictions for how the tournament is going to go down.

And as far as the simulation predicts, it’s going to be a terrible event for the hosts as EA says that South Africa will be the first team knocked out of the tournament, after being bundled out by France, Uruguay and Mexico in Group A.

It’s not all doom and gloom for Spain, though. According to the prediction, this team will win the tournament overall, beating Brazil 3 – 1 in the final.

Other highlights of EA’s 2010 FIFA World Cup simulation include the ‘reveal’ that David Villa of Spain will be awarded the ‘Golden Boot’ for the tournament, with a total of 7 goals, while Kaka of Brazil will be awarded the ‘Golden Ball.’

England fans, meanwhile, can take heart in knowing their team will place third in the tournament after defeating Argentina 2 – 1 for the positional game.

This is all pure simulation, if you needed reminding, and we’ll only see the true results when the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa tournament kicks off on June 11th, and ends on July 11th.

Can you feel it? It is (almost) here!
