Jun Takeuchi not working on Resident Evil 6, other projects in the works

Jun TakeuchiIn a recent interview ostensibly to discuss Lost Planet 2, one of Capcom’s most well known developers, Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2 producer Jun Takeuchi, has confirmed that he won’t have a role to play in the development of (the unannounced) Resident Evil 6, despite his long-runnning involvement with the franchise.

Not only are his non-development duties at Capcom keeping him too busy to work on the next sequel, but he’s got a few secret projects in the works, a few of which he thinks will be very surprising to people:

“I’m not involved in Resident Evil 6,” confirmed Takeuchi. “There’s actually a number of things I want to do.”

When pressed further to ascertain what these “things” may be, Takeuchi continued:

“If I say it like that, it might be taken as ‘next game,’ but before reaching the step of making a game, we - Japanese developers - have a lot of things that we must do. To begin, I have a number of things I’d like to do related to Capcom as a whole.”

“This year’s Capcom is very interesting,” Takeuchi said. “The titles we’ll announce in the future will surprise many people. We’ll be announcing this year the things that [Mega Man and Dead Rising producer, Keiji] Inafune and I have been working on over the past year.”

A collaboration between Inafune and Takeuchi sounds mighty intriguing! What could it be…
