Today is a good day to be a Pokemon fan, as a whole host of new reveals have been announced for the upcoming pair of games, Pokemon Black and Pokemon White, including the release of new images, a trailer, and new details on new Pokemon.

It’s an even better time to be a Pokemon fan in Japan, as the games have both been given a release date for the region.

Japanese gamers can expect Pokemon Black and White to release in the country on September 18th this year, as revealed by an official trailer that was recently unveiled. Not only does the trailer (split up into a duet below) reveal the release date, it also shows off no less than seven new, previously unseen Pokemon.

The trailers also go on to show in-game footage including story sequences, cool-looking battles and world traversal.

As always (and if you didn’t know by now…), you should definitely visit Serebii.net’s excellent round-up of the new (and old) Pokemon to put names to the… uh, ‘faces,’ and see their unique statistics.

But wait, there’s more!

More details regarding Pokemon Black and White that have emerged over the last few weeks include the fact that the games will feature 3 VS 3 battles, where three of your Pokemon will face-off against three enemy Pokemon… kind of obvious when you type it out like that, but there you go.

Also, Pokemon Black and White will feature a mode called ‘Random Match,’ which will allow you to play online with other Pokemon players, accessed from a Global Terminal in an in-game Pokemon Center. This will become a worldwide feature, allowing anyone in the world to play against anyone else, when the games see their full worldwide release in ‘Spring’ 2011.

Additionally, mention has been made of the ability to upload your Pokemon Black and White data (either save data, PokeDex data, something else or everything in-between) to the internet, through the Pokemon Global Link, although nothing more is known about this feature. Mysterious.
