In a bit of unfortunate news for rabid Heavy Rain fans, it seems as though developer Quantic Dream has put the planned second chapter of the series of ‘Chronicles’ downloadable content (DLC) on ‘indefinite hold,’ in favour of developing the recently announced PlayStation Move version of Heavy Rain.
Speaking with videogame consumer site and magazine Game Informer, the developer’s Guillame de Fondaumière spoke about the Move-enabled Heavy Rain, and the new kinds of interactions that the technology will allow.
With this version, players will be able to interact with the world and other characters in Heavy Rain using motion-based inputs in combination with buttons, instead of twiddling analogue sticks to approximate real life movement as seen in the original game.
This new version will apparently be made available as a free patch to existing Heavy Rain owners.
While this is an exciting prospect for those who enjoyed Heavy Rain, and gamers who haven’t yet had a chance to play the game, it will now come at the cost of an extended Heavy Rain experience, as de Fondaumière mentioned that Sony has encouraged Quantic Dream to rather focus on developing the Move version of Heavy Rain, rather than the upcoming second chapter of DLC.
In addition, de Fondaumière said that although it’s possible that once the Move version of the game is complete the studio could continue work on this planned DLC, it is more likely that work will begin on the developer’s next project instead.
