Judging by these newly released screenshots, as well as a debut trailer, PixelJunk Shooter 2 is looking very similar to its predecessor, featuring the same brand of exploration-based puzzle shooting with similar water/lava/steam levels.

This is not a bad thing. This is a very good thing.

In addition to the ‘same’ gameplay and look, PixelJunk Shooter 2 will include an online head-to-head ‘Versus’ mode, as well as a Ghost Attack Mode (which presumably involves players trying to beat their previous run at a level).

PixelJunk Shooter 2 is also set to include “all the ideas that were left on the drawing board for the first game to make Shooter 2 as jam-packed full of crazy fun as possible,” according to Q-Games’ Dylan Cuthbert.

Suddenly, the ‘same’ looking game isn’t sounding so samey anymore.
