E3 2010: Nintendo reveals the 3DS [Update]

Nintendo 3DSDuring Nintendo’s E3 2010 press conference that took place earlier today, the publisher fully revealed its next handheld console, the 3DS, accompanied by a host of features.

For increased control fidelity, Nintendo has included an analogue stick on the left side of the 3DS, above the traditional direction buttons.

The 3DS will have two screens, one with a 3.5 inch screen with the stereoscopic 3D effect. The device will also have two cameras on the outside of the upper clamshell (to take 3D images), and one on the inside.

With better graphical capabilities, the 3DS also now includes a motion sensor and gyroscope for motion-based gaming. The 3D effect is, as promised, achieved without glasses, and the handheld also has a slider to adjust the depth of the 3D.
