E3 2010: Get moving with Dance Central, jazzy screenshots and trailer released

Dance Central will be one of the 15 launch titles available when Microsoft’s Kinect (previously known as Project Natal) ships to North American retailers on the 4th of November.

As the name suggests, Dance Central is a dance game that sees gamers using their own body to perform dance moves. The game is currently in development at Harmonix while MTV Games will handle the publishing duties and Microsoft the distribution. As you probably know Harmonix are no strangers to the music genre, having created the successful Rock Band franchise.

Dance Central is being touted to be the first dance videogame that features and tracks full-body dance moves. Beginners and experts alike will be able to enjoy the authentically choreographed routines, controller free thanks to Kinect. The game will feature a “killer soundtrack that spans today’s current pop, hip-hop and R&B artists” including Lady Gaga, No Doubt, M.I.A. and more.

You’ll be able to learn over 600 moves step-by-step with the Break It Down mode or jump straight in and master over 90 dance routines with Perform It mode. You’ll also earn achievements, unlock new character outfits and venues as you master the dance moves. The game will even track the number of calories you burn.

Turn the volume up and enjoy the debut trailer for Just Dance below.
