As of last week, Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption has managed to hold onto the No. 1 position on Chart Track’s UK Software Sales Chart for four weeks in a week (the first title to do so in 2010), despite a massive 34% drop in sales, simultaneously holding off an attack on the position by Nintendo’s Super Mario Galaxy 2 during that game’s first week on sale.
Chart Track tells us that there was a difference of only a thousand units in sales between Red Dead Redemption and Super Mario Galaxy 2 – close indeed. In the end, Super Mario Galaxy had to be happy with its No. 2 position.
2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa (sales down 11%) slips down to No. 3 from No. 2 this past week, but with the start of the real life world cup, this position is sure to improve, or at the very least remain stable.
Nintendo’s puzzle game, Rooms: The Main Building (sales up 76%), shoots up the chart after debuting last week, now sitting at No. 4 from No. 12 last week, while chart dominator Just Dance (sales down 27%) shifts down to No. 5 from No. 4, and Wii Fit Plus (sales down 33%) slips down one place to No. 6.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (sales down 27%) is a non-mover at No. 7 (for the third week in a row), The Sims 3: Ambitions (sales down 40%) moves to No. 8 from No. 6, UFC 2010 Undisputed (sales down 60%) falls from No. 3 to No. 9, and Wii Sports Resort (sales down 37%) takes a walk to No. 10, down from No. 8 last week.
Meanwhile, debut title Green Day: Rock Band hits the chart at No. 14.
