Even though we’ve known of its existence for a little while now, Sony and Creat Studios have now officially announced TerRover, a stylized, 2D physics- and all terrain vehicle-based platform game.
According to the press release TerRover will launch players into a “surreal mash-up of unique cartoon graphics and a 2D physics universe.” The game will see players taking control of a small off-road vehicle with the aim of exploring new planets and collecting valuable items.
You will navigate your TerRover through over 40 stages of puzzling arcade levels in five different 2D art styles, ranging from the “icy vistas of Congelata” to the “all-tech surfaces of Mechanica, the strange vegetation and terrains of Acor and Aura, and the treacherous volcanoes and lava of Volcanus.” Players will have to overcome obstacles and barriers using the TerRover’s wheel rotation, pivot center, gravity system and weapons.
You’ll also be able to enjoy three local multiplayer modes for up to four people as well as leaderboards and trophies.
TerRover is scheduled to be released on the PlayStation Network this summer, but it will be getting a lot more attention before then as it will be on display at this week’s E3 expo in the Sony booth. “Collaborating with Creat Studios to bring TerRover to the PlayStation Network demonstrates our continued efforts to deliver the most diverse and compelling content on the PlayStation Network” said Jason Herzceg, Director of Business Development at SOE. “TerRover presents players with both dazzling visuals and challenging gameplay mechanics that merge to create a completely unique experience.”
