E3 2010: SEGA unveils Sonic Free Riders, it’s compatible with Kinect!

Sega has just taken the wraps off Sonic Free Riders, the publisher’s first Kinect game for the Xbox 360.

Sonic Free Riders promises to deliver “full body motion controlled fast-paced boarding action, developed to take full advantage of Kinect for the Xbox 360.” The game will be available to play with Kinect for the Xbox 360 this holiday.

According to Sega “you’ll be twisting and turning your way through a range of visually stunning courses in an action-packed Sonic experience unlike any other!”All of this twisting and turning will be thanks to Kinect’s motion sensor, which will allow gamers to control a fully customisable hover board or bike by “twisting, turning, and jumping in an exhilarating race to be first to cross the finish line.”

Players will be able to step into the shoes of a Sonic character or even their own avatar, before setting out on the course, reaching out to grab various pickups along the way. You’ll then be able to throw, shake or swing your arms to launch these items in both single or multiplayer races.
