BioWare has seen fit to release details about the new Darkspawn Chronicles DLC pack for their popular RPG Dragon Age: Origins. News of the DLC pack first emerged yesterday when Major Nelson revealed the upcoming Xbox Live Marketplace schedule, but now we even have two screenshots of the DLC to marvel over.
The Darkspawn Chornicles DLC pack will be available across Europe for the Xbox 360 and PC on the 18th of May for 400 MS Points and 400 BioWare points respectively. The DLC will also be arriving on the PlayStation Network but a release date will only be announced later.
The DLC will enable players to step into the shoes of the Darkspawn for the first time ever, experiencing life on the dark side as the corrupted army of the Blight are enslaved to the will of the Archdemon.
The DLC will enable players to explore an alternate history in the Dragon Age universe, beginning (brace yourself) as your character dies during the Joining ceremony, with the Grey Wardens now under Alistair’s command. “As a hurlock vanguard, you alone hold the power to make thralls of their fellow darkspawn and drive them into the heat of battle as Denerim burns! This adventure gives you command of genlocks, hurlocks, shrieks, and even the mighty ogres.”
The DLC allows you to imagine a world without heroes as you play through the Fall of Denerim from the Darkspawn’s perspective, with the ability to recruit any Darkspawn into your party using the Enthrall ability. In addition players who complete the module will unlock a Darkspawn item that can be used in both the original Origins game and the Awakening expansion pack.
Dragon Age: Origins has sold very well to date, with EA revealing the game had shipped over 3.2 million units worldwide back in February. Since then BioWare has released two add-on packs for the game, Warden’s Keep and Return to Ostagar, as well as the Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening expansion pack.
