The Behemoth has announced that PS3 owners are one step closer to playing Castle Crashers. According to an update on their development blog, the game has been sent to final testing and will thereafter be submitted to Sony.
“Our indefatigable programmers have been working their little fingers to the bone to make this game perfect for you. We’ve completed our internal testing, courtesy of our new Testopia office, a wonderland of testing joy. We have now sent the title off to a 3rd party vendor for final testing before we begin the submission process with Sony.”
The developer still doesn’t know when Castle Crashers will be hitting the PlayStation Store, but promises to keep us all posted when they know “any firm or even squishy dates.” The release date will depend on how this final round of testing goes but rest assured that this is the “final stretch.”
We did, however, gain a few screenshots and even a video featuring the developer’s testers enjoying a few quick volleyball matches in the new volleyball mini-game which you can enjoy below. The new mode lets you play co-op or against your buddies, both locally or online, with up to three friends in multiplayer and the option to add AI teammates or opponents for up to 4 on 4 matches.
You’ll be able to play as any character you have unlocked with variable stats based on each character. You’ll also be able to use magic attacks to place 8 new magic status effects on the ball and make use of new serving and spiking moves in 1, 3 or 5 matches against opponents as well as leaderboards.
We also found out a little about the Trophies that Castle Crashers for the PS3 would include. Most of the trophies will be the same as the Xbox Live Arcade Achievements, however, there will be a new Volleyball trophy called ‘Social Networker’ to replace the ‘Glork’ achievement. Players will need to “brush up on [their] social skills,” working with the other team to achieve an “impressive number of volleys back and forth.” Those who beat the game on Insane mode will earn themselves a new Gold trophy, appropriately called ‘You are Insane.’
Check back next week because The Behemoth promised to unveil a new feature then, something involving Arena mode apparently.
