In a week filled with blockbuster new videogame releases, only one could claim to be the best selling of them all, and according to data from Chart Track, Red Dead Redemption is last week’s No. 1 on the UK Software Sales Chart.
Despite overwhelming popularity on online retailer Amazon UK and (maybe because of) extensive unit shortages of the game in the region, Red Dead Redemption is only the 11th best seller, in terms of weekly sales, in the UK.
In addition, and according to CVG, 65 percent of Red Dead Redemption’s sales were seen on the Xbox 360
2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa (sales down 25%) is smarting after being stuck in No. 2 for the first time since debut, while Just Dance (sales down 13%) bides its time by moving up to No. 3 from No. 4 last week. Wii Fit Plus (sales up 20%) leaps up from No. 9 last week to No. 4.
The first of the debut titles, Split/Second, slots in at No. 5, as Battlefield: Bad Company 2 hangs tough at No. 6, and Lost Planet 2 drops to No. 7 from No. 3.
Alan Wake falls to No. 8 from its strong start at No. 2 last week, debut title Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands finds a place at No. 9, and ModNation Racers settles down at No. 10 during its first week on sale.
Of note is the fact that this is the first time that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has slipped out of the coveted Top Ten on the UK Software Sales Chart since release, now sitting at No. 11. It’ll be back.
