SEGA has announced that the first game in the proposed Sonic the Hedgehog 4 series of downloadable episodes has been delayed until “late 2010.”
As recompense, however, it seems as though Sonic 4: Episode 1 will be making its way to more platforms than the previously announced Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network and WiiWare, with iPhone and iPad to be imbued with high-speed Sonic platforming adventures when the game is released.
A press release explained the delay thus:
“The additional time will allow the development team to focus on ensuring overall high-quality throughout the game by continuing to tune, balance, and maintain the kind of polish that an important title like this demands, and ultimately providing fans with an unrivalled classic Sonic feel.”
More information is expected at E3 next month, including pricing for the game.
