Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood formally announced, teaser website, trailer and details released

Ubisoft has taken the wraps off of the mysterious Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood game, which has been mentioned by the publisher before but until last week, didn’t have a name to go along with the promises of multiplayer assassinations, and the return of Ezio from Assassin’s Creed II.

While the teaser website for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is a nice interactive distraction, showing off some of the new weapons to be included in the game with accompanying descriptions, concrete details and a couple teaser trailers from the title have been released as well.

Much is being made of the new multiplayer accoutrements in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, but the game will also feature a roughly 15 hour long singleplayer campaign, as Ezio de Auditore (protagonist from Assassin’s Creed II) journeys to Rome as a Master Assassin, and tries to build an organisation of assassins there, recruiting and training up a Brotherhood of members in the city for him to command and deploy at will.

This time around, Ezio will have an expanded arsenal of equipment at his disposal, with new hidden blades and guns, poison darts, a new flying machine and a parachute.

In addition, Ezio will be able to manage the reconstruction of Rome in the same way Assassin’s Creed II enabled players to build up a small villa, and for his efforts, Ezio will be rewarded with new factions and missions, while meeting historical figures such as Leonardo da Vinci, Niccolo Machiavelli and Caterina Sforza along the way.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Multiplayer Characters

Multiplayer features for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood include the ability choose between different character classes, each with their own signature weapons and finishing moves, as players compete online against one another in a variety of game modes.

All of these features sound like an extremely meaty addition to the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and with five Ubisoft studios contributing to the game (namely Montreal, Singapore, Bucharest, Quebec City and Annecy), we can hope to see a high level of quality from the title too.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is expected to release at the end of this year (Holiday 2010) on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
