Confirming what we already knew, Sony has gone and formally announced the existence of LittleBigPlanet 2 for the PlayStation 3, as well as verifying the claims that gamers will be able to make all sorts of new experiences within the game, using LittleBigPlanet 2 as a platform for creating even more games!
LittleBigPlanet 2 has also been given a 2010 release window, with an excellent debut trailer to accompany the announcement:

As promised, LittleBigPlanet 2 will feature the ability to create all kinds of 2D games, including racing games, shooters and even classic arcade games like Puzzle Bobble, Space Invaders and much more.
The game will also sport a revamped graphics engine, a fresh new storyline, added accessories and equipment for SackBoy, and “revolutionary gameplay mechanics providing players a level of control and customization.”
Over and above all of that new stuff, LittleBigPlanet 2’s story tasks you with saving the LittleBigPlanet itself, and on your journey, you’ll visit “amazing places and meet wonderful characters as you run, bounce, swing and even grapple-hook your way to success.”
You’ll also be encouraged to create your own levels, and even your own games, using LittleBigPlanet 2’s new, improved and easy-to-use control scheme which is even more powerful than before, and as mentioned, any genre or contraption you can imagine is up for the making.
And if you’re not in the mood for the singleplayer story, or you don’t feel like building your own creations on the minute, you can head online and check out what the LittleBigPlanet 2 community is up to and download some of their creations – and with more than 2 million levels available from the original LittleBigPlanet, there’s already tons to do.
