Currently unconfirmed (my Xbox 360 is updating…), but AllGamesBeta has spotted an interesting image on Xbox LIVE’s Dashboard today, and it seemingly reveals a few things we already knew.

The impending release of Gears of War 3 has been confirmed, while the release window of April 2011 has also seemingly been verified, all via a ‘Spotlight’ appearance on Xbox LIVE’s Dashboard.

Epic’s Cliff Bleszinski was set to reveal the developer’s latest game on the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon show last night, but that announcement was postponed until Monday.

Was the announcement really Gears of War 3, and was this Dashboard update set to coincide with the reveal? Only someone forgot to stop the image from showing up on the Dashboard after Bleszinski’s appearance on Jimmy Fallon was delayed?

According to an Official Xbox Magazine (OXM) advertisement seen by MCV, Epic is set to announce “A brand new shooter from the makers of Gears of War,” which could add credence to the idea that the game Bleszinski will reveal on Jimmy Fallon may not be Gears of War 3, but a new intellectual property entirely.

Maybe.

Besides, we still haven’t heard a thing about the planned collaboration between EA and Epic, which according to EA, is indeed a shooter.
