Capcom has officially announced that Marvel VS Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is currently in development, and is set to release in the Spring of 2011 on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Ten years after the release of Marvel VS Capcom 2, Capcom is aiming to allow players to take control of a roster of legendary and fan-favourite characters from both Marvel and Capcom universes in Marvel VS Capcom 3, including Chris Redfield, Ryu, Wolverine, The Hulk, Morrigan and Iron Man.
This re-envisioned team fighting game is powered by an advanced version of the engine that was used (and will be used) in Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2 to ensure “innovative graphics and gameplay,” while an “evolved” VS fighting system used in the game will include all of the signature hyper combos, aerial combos and original movesets that you’re used to.
Marvel VS Capcom 3 will also include a 3-on-3 Tag Team Fighting system, while the artists and technologists working on the game are striving to provide players with a “moving comic” visual aesthetic to blur the boundaries between 2D and 3D graphics.
Corporate Officer and Vice President of Strategic Planning and Business Development at Capcom, Christian Svensson said of Marvel VS Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds:
“We are so pleased to be working with Marvel again. Marvel VS Capcom 3 has been one of the most requested titles for us to produce by our fans. Our Capcom development studio is creating the most epic fighting game ever developed and Marvel’s input into that process has been invaluable.”
