Two more Infinity Ward developers resign, but to what end?

Infinity Ward Logo 2It’s been revealed that an additional two employees have resigned from Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward, following movements made by two other lead developers last week, and conspicuously following the announcement of a new studio by ousted Infinity Ward heads Vince Zampella and Jason West, Respawn Entertainment.

Veteran programmer Jon Shiring, who had been with the developer for almost six years, announced via his Twitter account that he had left Infinity Ward on the same day as the announcement of Respawn Entertainment. Shiring tweeted:

“After almost 6 years at Infinity Ward, I resigned today. I’m incredibly proud of everything we accomplished and I’m going to miss everyone.”

Lead designer Mackey McCandlish, an absolute Infinity Ward veteran after working at the studio for eight years, is the second known developer to leave the company.

This brings the grand total of (known) employees who have left Infinity Ward since the beginning of March (either forcibly or by choice) up to six, and includes programmers and designers who (if by some stroke of happenstance were to be placed in a single office and decided to create a game) would be more than capable of beginning development on a brand new videogame project.

Time (as well as rumours and E3 in June) will tell if such an occurrence comes to be.
