New details for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier emerge

Ghost Recon Future Soldier SkullUbisoft has revealed a few more details about the next entry in the Ghost Recon franchise. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is currently in development at the publisher’s Paris Studio (who also handled development duties for Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and Advanced Warfighter 2) and is on track to hit shelves for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this spring.

Gamers can gain access to a multiplayer beta for the game, invitations for which will be included with Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction when it becomes available for the Xbox 360 on the 16th of April.

Future Soldier will see players getting up close and personal with the world’s future combat systems, inspired by existing prototypes, as a member of the elite Ghost Recon unit.

Blend in or blast out

Players will be packing the latest high-tech military equipment, enabling you to blend into any environment with optical camouflage, while an exoskeleton will enhance physical abilities enabling you to run and kick farther and faster. Prepare to engage in brutal melee close combat and control new heavily armed unmanned ground and air combat drones, all the while unleashing large-radius firepower thanks to a personal mortar capable of firing multiple guided rockets at the same time.

The game promises to inspire co-operation between players. For instance, you will be able to take out threats by co-ordinating combat through linking up with Ghost teammates in formation with one button push. You will also be able to move-and-shoot-as-one with friends and AI teammates without having to train or learn an orders system. And you will be able to combine the high-tech abilities of your teammates, destroying the opposition with the power of an army.

Single player and multiplayer modes revealed

Future Soldier will feature both a single player and split-screen co-operative campaign. Players will join the Ghosts as fresh recruit Kozak as his unit embarks on a mission to retaliate against a nationalist coup who unseats the legitimate president of Russia. Players will experience the war from the perspective of a bodyguard, engineer, civilian and more. Of course you will also be able to join the 8 vs. 8 adversarial matches and combine the four class abilities, plus drones and individual gear. You will be able to progress in your rank in the single, co-op and adversarial modes, unlocking rewards for both your Ghost and your Clan along the way.

“The Ghost Recon franchise set the standard for the next-generation gaming experience,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft. “With Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Ubisoft is amplifying the core values of the series – the sophisticated technology, weaponry, graphics, story and online gameplay – with the production values of a Hollywood blockbuster to deliver a stunning package that will make players truly feel like the elite soldier of tomorrow.”
