Gamers all across the globe have been enjoying developer Quantic Dream’s interactive psychological thriller Heavy Rain since the game was released at the end of February. One million gamers to be exact, according to Sony who has just announced that one million copies of Heavy Rain have been sold worldwide in just five weeks.
Heavy Rain tells the tale of a serial killer terrorising a city on the East Coast of the United States. The story follows the lives of four different people, Ethan Mars, Madison Paige, Norman Jayden and Scott Shelby, each drawn into the investigation for diverse reasons and each following their own set of leads in an attempt to find the newest potential victim.

“It has been hugely gratifying to see the positive response that Heavy Rain has received from gamers” says David Cage, the Writer and Director of Heavy Rain and CEO of Quantic Dream.
“It shows that it is possible to create games that break with convention, games that seek to tell complex stories, and games that can inspire unexpected emotions in players - and that such games can be commercial as well as critical successes. I hope that this success will continue to help pave the way for new, groundbreaking experiences.”

That's good to see. I hope we get more games like this in the future. Heavy Rain truly was amazing.
One of the most hectic gaming experiences I have ever had - I also hope we get more games like this.
The final word on Heavy Rain will only be pronounced once I get to play it. Then we'll talk about 'future games' like it.
;)
In all seriousness, this is an astounding achievement and it's great that it's sold so well. Hopefully it manages to squeak out a million or two more before the end of the year to drive the point home a little further.
Once I have played The Taxidermist DLC (which I downloaded on the weekend), it's all yours! Prepare to be amazed ;)
