SEGA confirms Conduit 2 for the Wii [Updated with screenshots]

While there wasn’t much need to actually confirm the existence of Conduit 2 after it was revealed in the latest issue of Nintendo Power, it’s nice of SEGA and High Voltage to let people who don’t have access to the magazine know that it is, indeed, currently in development.

So yes: SEGA and High Voltage Software, the publisher and developer team that brought us the original The Conduit first-person shooter on the Nintendo Wii, will join forces once more to bring us Conduit 2 (which will once again be a Wii-exclusive title) this Fall.

Planned features for Conduit 2 include a focus on new online features, cooperative play, diverse and exotic locations (such as Atlantis), a new and bigger singleplayer campaign, as well as new and returning weapons.

A new Team Invasion mode is also planned, which allows up to four players to fight off waves of aliens in split-screen or online, while competitive online play will support up to 12 players, and will support Nintendo’s Wii Speak communication peripheral.

Sega of America VP of marketing Sean Ratcliffe commented that Conduit 2 will be an “enormous” sequel, and will “greatly improve and expand on the original” to “to raise the bar for Wii war games.”
