According to videogame consumer website Nintendo Everything, a follow-up to last year’s Wii-exclusive first-person shooter The Conduit is currently in the works, and has been revealed in the latest issue of Nintendo Power.
Amongst the most intriguing details for The Conduit 2, currently in development at original developer High Voltage, is that the game is set in the fabled sunken city of Atlantis, as well as locations such as Siberia, Agartha (another legendary setting) and Washington D.C.
It seems as though the team is focussing their energies not only on the art and story of the second game, but the online, multiplayer and cooperative aspects as well, with planned features such as new online gameplay modes, WiiSpeak support, 2 - 4 player split-screen for competitive play, and a cooperative ‘Invasion’ mode where four player will each have unique challenges to one another in a single game.
The singleplayer experience won’t be lacking either, with the promise of big boss battles, character customisation, suit upgrades (with an example of robotic legs that let your sprint farther and faster given), new weapons with older version returning and being modified, and the return of the multipurpose ASE (All Seeing Eye) artefact.
At the moment, there’s no release date, but the most surprising thing to be found is the claim that SEGA will once again carry out publishing duties for The Conduit 2, even after the furore over the company’s assertion that it is no longer interested in pursuing the publishing of mature titles on the Wii.
Maybe High Voltage and SEGA have a different strategy this time…
