Blur dated for the US and UK, new high-speed trailers unleashed

Bizarre Creation’s hybrid action racing game Blur has just been stamped with release dates for the US and UK, and will be available in the regions on May 25th and May 28th respectively, on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

This puts the game in direct competition with another hybrid racer from Disney Interactive Studios and Black Rock Studio, Split/Second, releasing on May 18th and May 21st in the US and Europe respectively, which will be an interesting scrap indeed.

This post is all about Blur, though, and if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to get your hands on the game early with the announced Xbox 360 multiplayer beta that kicks off next week on March 8th. Beta tokens are currently being handed out by a variety of websites (El33tonline not included…), so be sure to forage around Mother Internet if you’re keen.

Below, you can watch some impressive in-game footage from Blur, which shows off the power-up systems as work, as well as an interview with two of the designers on the game for some more clues:

“The Blur team takes racing back to its roots with the many features designed to compliment simplicity as described by Lead Designers Garreth Wilson and Ged Talbot.”
