Update Nintendo has since announced that Jam with the Band has been postponed internationally and will now be released in South Africa later this year. End of Update
So far this year’s gaming calendar has been jam packed, and according to Core Gaming, distributors of Nintendo in South Africa, things look set to become even hotter for Wii and DS gamers!
At the recent launch of the DSi XL in South Africa last week, Core Gaming revealed a few of the titles that we can expect to see hitting shelves across South Africa in the very near future. And rest assured there are some pretty big names among the line-up including the highly anticipated Super Mario Galaxy 2, Monster Hunter Tri and Metroid: Other M as well as a few surprises in the form of Sin & Punishment 2 and Jam with the Band.
The real big-hitter that many a Nintendo fan is looking forward to this year is Super Mario Galaxy 2, which will be available for the Wii on the 11th of June. This release is in line with the European date while US gamers will get their hands on the title a short while earlier on the 23rd of May.
Meanwhile Wii owners will be spoilt for choice as Monster Hunter Tri will descend into stores on the 23rd of April (this month!), the same day as Europe but a few days later than the US release date which falls on the 20th of April. And let’s not forget Metroid: Other M and Metroid Trilogy which were given the rather nebulous release window of ‘upcoming 2010.’ Fear not, however, because Metroid: Other M will be available across North America on the 27th of June while Europe has not been dated yet but is sure to follow soon thereafter.
Sin & Punishment 2 will also release in line with the European schedule and will be available on the 7th of May, earlier than the North American date of 7th of June. The game will be known as Sin & Punishment: Successor of the Skies in Europe while US gamers should keep an eye out for Sin & Punishment: Star Successor. Last but not least Samuari Warrior 3 will be releasing on the 7th of May, carrying many a hope on its shoulders as a so-called hardcore Wii title.
Turning now to the handheld side of things, some of you avid El33tonline readers will be ecstatic to know that Jam with the Band will be coming to our sunny shores on the 21st of May. Jam with the Band is a popular rhythm game known as Daigasso! Band Brothers in Japan. It remains unclear at present whether Jam with the Band will be the English version of the original game or the sequel, Daigasso! Band Brothers DX.
