In a recently released investor report, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has announced the existence of the 3DS (a tentative title), an advanced Nintendo DS handheld with the ability to display 3D graphics without the use of special glasses to enable the effect.
The 3DS is slated to release before March 2011, while an official announcement and reveal is expected during E3 this year, on June 15th.
According to the report, the 3DS will features backwards compatibility with Nintendo DS cartridges, 3D gaming with the naked eye, and will be the successor to the Nintendo DS.
No other mention of graphical abilities or improvements over the current DS models was mentioned, so we’ll have to wait until E3 to find out!
