Splinter Cell: Conviction PC delayed by two weeks

VG247 is reporting that the PC version of Splinter Cell: Conviction won’t be joining its Xbox 360 counterpart when it debuts on April 16th in the UK, and will instead release to the public a full two weeks later on April 30th in the region, and the world.

This won’t go down well at all with a crowd of PC gamers who already view Ubisoft with more than a glint of ire, after the recent Assassin’s Creed II digital rights management (DRM) fiasco requiring users to constantly be connected to the internet to play, and the resultant denial of service (DoS) attacks on the servers running the game leading to many a customer not being able to play the game they legitimately bought.

Word doing the rounds at the moment is that a number of Ubisoft’s PC titles, Assassin’s Creed II included, have been removed from the UK portal of Valve Software’s Steam digital distribution service, although DRM reportedly has nothing to do with the removal.

So to sum up: Ubisoft and PC gamers aren’t having a good time on the minute.

Could this delay for the PC version of Splinter Cell: Conviction have something to do with a new last-minute approach to DRM by Ubisoft? We’ll have more when there is.
