Although we already knew that Q-Games was working on a new instalment in its popular PixelJunk series, details of the new title were still scarce. Until now that is, because Dylan Cuthbert, President and Executive Producer of Q-Games has announced that PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap will be arriving on the PlayStation Network this Spring.
Cuthbert describes PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap as a “bit of a fan service,” an upgrade to the original Racers with new Trophies and ghost attack. Ghost attack records how you played when you register a new score on the high score table so others can try beat your score. The single player tournament has also been made easier to complete so players can open up ghost attack and other party modes as well as earn Trophies quicker.
According to Cuthbert 2nd Lap is not really a racing game but a “slot-car based arcade game with lots of fun, wacky modes and ideas in it, and as a result is excellent fun if you get a few people round.” Players can also enjoy competition with friends on the internet thanks to the new ghost mode.
Last but not least Cuthbert announced that PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe will be available on UMD on the 27th of April for $19.99. You can enjoy the box art for Monsters Deluxe and the first screenshots from PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap below.
