Just Cause 2 demo downloaded 2 million times, explosive launch trailer released

Just Cause 2 Xbox 360 Box ArtPlayers from around the world are eagerly awaiting the release of Just Cause 2. We know this because Square Enix has revealed that the game’s playable demo has been downloaded over 2 million times since the demo became available on the 4th of March.

Some other interesting stats about the demo that you might like to know: “In that time, players have driven a distance equivalent to a trip from the earth to the moon and back four times; Panau Island has lost almost 30 million of its population (with approximately 2.5 million headshots, almost a million drivers hurled from hijacked vehicles and 27,000 Piñata kills); and players have BASE jumped the equivalent of a freefall through the Earth’s core, pole-to-pole, twice.”

The Just Cause 2 demo is described by the publisher as “one of the largest playable sandbox demos of all time” and is available on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Players can cause chaos in towns, villages and military bases across 35 square miles.

Step into the shoes of Rico Rodriguez as he takes on Panau Island’s military regime to track down his former boss and mentor Tom Sheldon who has made off with Agency cash and intel. The game includes a unique grapple and parachute combination which allows you to execute interesting actions including hijacking helicopters, BASE jumping and causing general chaos and destruction.

Just Cause 2 is scheduled to be released on the 23rd of March in North America with Europe following on the 26th of March.
