EA has officially announced that a full-blown sequel to the publisher’s EA Sports Active fitness product (don’t call it a game!) is in development, and will release on PlayStation 3, Wii, iPhone and iPod Touch (no mention of Xbox 360) in the Fall of this year.
Going by the working title of EA Sports Active 2.0, the title will aim to deliver a true fitness workout regime for true fitness results by featuring a wireless control system, all powered by leg and arm straps with motion sensors and a heart rate monitor to capture the intensity of your movement, while a new online hub will allow you to track and share your workout data and enable you to download new workouts and exercises, which you’ll be able to access wherever you go.
EA Sports Active 2.0 will expand on previous versions of the title by providing total body conditioning using a progressing exercise in prescribed programmes – “A three-phase, nine-week program provides a fitness roadmap to help keep users motivated and on track of their fitness goals. Additional mini-programs will also be available to add on, keeping workouts fresh and inspiring.
“The EA Sports Active personal trainer will walk users through their workout and provide continued encouragement with feedback to ensure an optimal workout experience.”
Executive Producer on EA Sports Active, Tarrnie Williams enthused:
“The launch of EA Sports Active 2.0 will define a new era of interactive fitness with the use of innovative motion sensor peripherals and a heart rate monitor that provide users with a fitness experience delivering real, measurable results.”
“As the number one rated fitness program for the Wii, EA Sports Active proved itself as the industry leader and provided the foundation for our fitness franchise. The success stories we’ve received from our users show that EA Sports Active is changing lives and we’re so proud to be part of it.”
