Heavy Rain has released to thunderous acclaim, snatching the No. 1 position on Chart Track’s UK Software Sales Chart on debut and becomes Sony Computer Entertainment’s first number one release in the UK since Killzone 2 this time last year.

This turn of events pushes last week’s No. 1, Aliens VS Predator (sales down 38%), to No. 2 on the chart, which dislodges Just Dance (sales down 12%) from its long-held No. 2 position, finally forcing it down to No. 3.

Wii Fit Plus (sales up 9%) storms up the list this week by skipping to No. 4 from No. 9, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (sales down 17%) has the gall to move up one place to No. 5, while Wii Sports Resort (sales down 14%) also steps up a place from No. 7 last week to No. 6.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii (sales down 34%) slips to No. 7 from No. 4, another new title in the form of Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing debuts at No. 8, Bioshock 2 (sales down 56%) falls to No. 9 from No. 3 last week, and Fifa 10 (sales down 43%) cries foul after being tripped up at No. 5 last week and tumbles down to No. 10.

Outside of Top Ten news, Napoleon: Total War debuts on the PC at No. 12 on the chart, while White Knight Chronicles for the PS3 shows up for the first time at No. 35.
