LEGO Star Wars III revealed, coming this fall

LEGO Star Wars IIILucasArts and TT Games have announced that development is underway for LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars. The game will be available for the Wii, DS, PS3, PSP and Xbox 360 in fall 2010.

LEGO Star Wars III promises to “combine the best elements of all previous LEGO games while adding brand new gameplay to make it the most action-packed LEGO videogame to date.” The same Traveller’s Tales team that created the LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Indiana Jones series will be in charge of development duties for LEGO Star Wars III.

The game will include all the characters from both seasons of the popular animated TV series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as well as a few other favourite characters. Players will be able to play as either a Jedi or Separatist and test out the new character abilities, including Squad command, Lightsaber slicing, Lightsaber jumps, long distance Jedi attacks and Grapple Tie-Ups, all within a new, easy-to-navigate hub.

Star Wars III will also feature new battle modes, allowing players to enjoy head-to-head combat as well as an upgraded level builder which players can use to create customised bases and in-game battlefields.

“LucasArts continues to set the bar for next-generation family entertainment. The LEGO Star Wars franchise is a massive hit with fans, bringing in sales of over 20 million units worldwide,” said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts.

Tom Stone, director at TT Games, commented “The team at TT is working hard at making this simply the best LEGO game ever with all new gameplay and features never before seen in a LEGO game.”
