Gran Turismo 5 recently released around the world to an overwhelmingly positive response, and while some of you were a bit disappointed with a few aspects here and there, there’s no question that Sony Computer Entertainment and Polyphony Digital’s PlayStation 3-exclusive racing simulator is a visual tour de force!
But… I seem to recall another racing simulator game that released, was it last year? In October? And exclusively on Xbox 360? Oh yes, of course! Forza Motorsport 3!
Dang, that was a great game!
If the number one claim to fame for Gran Turismo 5 (a game that was in development for five years) is its visuals, how is it then that Forza Motorsport 3 (a game with a ‘normal’ development cycle of +/- 18 months) is able to match the graphical splendour of its competitor?
Is this the case? Should my eyes be surgically replaced with cyborg peepers?
To help us out here, Gametrailers has done due diligence and compared Gran Turismo 5 and Forza Motorsport 3 over each of the game’s representations of the same car and race track… with startling results:

Interesting video... the difficulty is this: in GT5 they targeted 60fps while Forza is generally a 30fps game.
Yes, those trees look really odd when you look at them with a camera, but when you're driving, with the camera in the car, everything looks great.
But yeah, they're both flipping awesome games - play them both I say. Or just play the one for the console you have.
Argh! Logic! My mortal enemy!
dies
sorry but forza 3 runs at a full 60 fps not 30fps. on lens of truth they did a performance test on both Gran turismo 5 and Forza 3 and they said that while both game do run at 60 fps forza 3 always runs at a constant 60FPS without it ever dropping down while with GT5 it goes all the way down to 50 FPS.
Really! Oh, I didn't realise. I played them one after the other, just switching inputs to my screen, and GT5 felt smoother. It must have been a subconscious thing.
