Following the unfortunate delay for Atari’s Test Drive Unlimited 2, a new and concrete US release date has recently been revealed for the open-world racing game, while pre-order bonuses have also been announced.
Now scheduled to release on February 8th in the US for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC gamers, Test Drive Unlimited 2 is currently in development at Eden Studios (which created the first Test Drive Unlimited title), and will feature M.O.O.R., or Massively Open Online Racing, which Atari hopes will expand on the traditional racing experience and immerse players in a persistent, online environment, “revolutionizing multiplayer racing communities as players compete, team up, and share their achievements and creations online.”
In addition to this open world experience, Test Drive Unlimited 2 will feature the usual set of realistic vehicles and performance dynamics, vehicle damage, weather effects, day/night cycles and an entirely new island to explore.
In continuing the Test Drive Unlimited approach to online and offline gaming, the sequel will attempt to blend the singleplayer and multiplayer experiences together seamlessly, creating an “always live” environment for players to hop in and out of, as well as the ability to play through the singleplayer narrative offline or with a friend.
If you pre-order Test Drive Unlimited 2 on Steam now, you’ll be eligible to receive an exclusive car, the Pagani Zonda Tricolore, and then if you pre-order through GameStop you can get the Casino Mode DLC.
Pre-ordering at Atari.com will net you the Ford Shelby GT500, Walmart has the Bugati Veyron Supersport 2010, Direct2Drive has the Jaguar XKR, a pre-purchase at Best Buy will get you the Aston Martin DBS Carbon Black, and pre-ordering at K-Mart will allow you to get the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti.
Phew!
A Test Drive Unlimited 2 release date (and further pre-order details) for Europe is expected to be announced this Friday.
