The Behemoth loves South Africa… and Brazil too!

Following the launch of Xbox LIVE in South Africa (and eight other countries), Xbox 360 gamers in the country have no doubt been enjoying the opportunity to officially join up with a 23 million+ member strong community of online gamers, as well as the delight of browsing Xbox LIVE Marketplace to choose from hundreds of different Xbox LIVE Arcade games…

Well… not so much that last part. Unfortunately, as a result of the complications of South Africa’s own distinct age rating and classification system through the Film and Publications Board (as opposed to PEGI and ESRB in Europe and the US respectively), we’ve been left with a sad looking line-up of Xbox LIVE Arcade games.

The Behemoth LogoDue to the process of rating games individually, it’s going to take some time for so many titles to show up on South Africa’s Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Now, however, those lovely and awesome fellows and fellowettes at indie game developer The Behemoth (Castle Crashers, Alien Hominid) have shed a little more light on the process of getting games approved on Xbox LIVE Arcade, and in the process, have promised that they will be “jumping through hoops” and “jumping on trampolines” to get their games on the South African Marketplace as soon as possible.

From a post by ‘Mayor of Behemothtown,’ Kelly Revak:

“Dear South African and Brazilian humans,

“Your countries have special ratings requirements. This means that few XBLA titles will be available until the ratings have been determined and put into the games. It’s not a big deal, but it does require a new build of the game and lots of jumping through hoops and jumping around and jumping on trampolines for everyone.

“We don’t have a time frame, but we are not the only game that is going through this process, and everyone is working to get the games to you as quickly as possible. Do not despair, we are coming for youuuuuuu!”

We love you too, Behemoth!

Game 3

In fact, we love The Behemoth so much that we’re desperately looking forward to the studio’s next game, BattleBlock Theatre, which was recently delayed into 2011 making everyone at El33t Towers very sad indeed…

The Behemoth are most excellent folk, and it does not surprise me one little bit that they will be jumping through hoops for us!

Thanks guys, we love your games! :)

Oliver

But they'll also be having fun jumping on trampolines, so it all works itself out! ;)
