Some videogame trailers are functional, merely showing various gameplay situations that you may find yourself in during the game in question.
Some videogame trailers are super slick and stylish, designed to get you excited about the game on show without showing much of anything at all.
And some videogame trailers are more story oriented, perhaps giving you glimpses of cinematics and gameplay while injecting as much narrative and premise into the video as possible.
