Fable III mounted a revolution this past week and stormed the castles of FIFA 11 and Fallout: New Vegas to break Chart Track’s UK Software Sales Chart free from their tyrannical reign!
…
That’s just a fancy way of saying that Fable III is No. 1 on the UK Software Sales listing for this past week, outperforming FIFA 11 and Fallout: New Vegas to claim the top spot.
Fable III has managed to outdo the sales performance of Fable II during that game’s launch week by 6 000 units, making Lionhead’s latest RPG the 13th biggest Xbox 360 launch in the UK, and the 4th biggest Xbox 360 launch of 2010 in the region.
Interestingly, Fable III is Microsoft Game Studios’ third No. 1 UK chart hero, following up Crackdown 2 and Halo: Reach. Conversely, 2009 only saw a single MGS title in Halo 3: ODST show up at No. 1.
FIFA 11 (sales up 10%) steps up one place to No. 2 this week, whereas Fallout: New Vegas (sales down 55%) takes a walk down to No. 3 after its debut appearance at No. 1 last week. Just Dance 2 (sales up 2%) sidles up to No. 4 from No. 5 last week, while Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II appears at No. 5 during its first week on sale.
All of this chart jostling activity means that Medal of Honor (sales down 53%), once a No. 1 contender, has now been forcefully shifted down to No. 6 from its spot at No. 2 just last week, as another debut title, WWE Smackdown VS RAW 2011, makes an entry at No. 7.
Professor Layton and the Lost Future (sales down 23%) slips down four places to No. 8 this week, sales of The Sims 3 (sales up 999%) are boosted by the launch of the console version of the game this past week as the game rockets back into the chart at No. 9, and Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 (sales up 93%) steps down just one place to No. 10.
