Oh dear.
PopCap just wasn’t satisfied with hooking casual PC gamers on the developer’s original Bejeweled Match-3 game, so the company went and released Bejeweled 2, Bejeweled Twist and Bejeweled Blitz just to make sure everybody was seeing ghostly images of moving gems clicking together and exploding in their sleep.
Now, PopCap has gone and announced the existence of Bejeweled 3.
Have mercy PopCap! Office productivity levels were already at an all-time low with Peggle and Plants VS Zombies! And now you’re doing this?!
Welp, I tried to reason with them. I guess we may as well enjoy and understand the game if it’s going enslave us. Resistance is, indeed, futile.
Here’s what you can expect from Bejeweled 3:
Bejeweled 3 will include the four game modes seen in Bejeweled 2, as well as four addition secret games such as ‘Ice Storm’ and ‘Poker.’ Quest mode, meanwhile, contains 11 mini-games that combine classic Bejeweled Match-3 gameplay with other game types to provide 40 quests in total.
Here’s a handy list of new (and expanded) features to be included in Bejeweled 3:
- Classic: Play the most popular puzzle game of the century, with powerful new gems and new ultra-smooth gameplay
- Quest: Journey through 40 magical puzzles in this multifaceted Bejeweled challenge!
- Zen: Personalize your experience with ambient sounds and binaural beats - a revolutionary new way to relax!
- Lightning: Charge up with a heart-pounding, beat-the-clock bout of gem-blasting fun!
- Secret Games: Unlock 4 all-new games including Butterflies and Ice Storm
- Badges: Earn up to 65 badges to prove your skills
- High-definition graphics and high-fidelity audio: Bejeweled is now more dazzling than ever before!
- Ultra-smooth gameplay: Make multiple matches while new gems fall into place
And here’s that promised trailer for Bejeweled 3, which showcases a few of the new game modes, and a few new graphical tricks:
Bejeweled 3 – Debut Trailer
Bejeweled 3 is scheduled to become available on December 7th for $19.95 on PopCap.com as well as other major online game portals, while a retail version of the game will also go on sale in North America.
Lastly, here are some Bejeweled facts:
“Since its introduction 10 years ago, Bejeweled has become one of the top 10 video game franchises in history. More than half a billion people worldwide have played the game, and over 50 million units have been sold across 17 platforms.
“An estimated 7.5 billion hours have been spent playing Bejeweled, and the game continues to sell at the rate of one copy every 4.3 seconds.”
