Debut title and massive RPG Fallout: New Vegas managed to become the top-selling game in the UK this past week, claiming No. 1 on Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing after only two days on sale.
Fallout: New Vegas was able to effortlessly outclass the launch week performance of Bethesda Softworks’ previous Fallout title, Fallout 3 in 2008, as New Vegas racked up 29% more unit sales across its three platforms (PS3, Xbox 360 and PC).
When a brand new title shoots straight to the top of the chart, it unfortunately means that the previous week’s No. 1 has to make way, and this week it’s no different. Medal of Honor (sales down 48%) has to step down to No. 2 to clear a space for Fallout: New Vegas, which pushes FIFA 11 (sales down 30%) down one place to No. 3.
Another debut title, Professor Layton and the Lost Future (also known as ‘the Unwound Future) hits No. 4 during its first week on sale, while chart hero sequel Just Dance 2 (sales up 39%) moves down to No. 5 from No. 3 last week.
Wii Party shifts down two places to No. 6, Wii Sports Resort zooms up to No. 7 from No. 15, F1 2010 moves down to No. 8 from No. 6, Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 tumbles to No. 9 from No. 5, and Dead Rising 2 shambles down three places to No. 10.
Three other new entries to the chart made their appearance last week in the form of Vanquish at No. 12, EA Sports MMA at No. 23, and DJ Hero 2 and No. 25.

Comments:
FNV is not my cup of tea nevertheless it is good to see it getting support.
From what I've read so far from players, it sounds that the game is a better all round performance (bugs excluded ;)) that F3. The story and whole feel of the game is apparently better. Worth getting at a later stage for sure.
Suprised to see COD: MW2 still on the top 20, as well as Red Dead Redemption.
Luckily the bugs have been sorted out in the PC version of Fallout: New Vegas. Console gamers aren't so lucky... ;(
I'm heartened by the news that it's better than Fallout 3!
Will Modern Warfare 2 ever die? Black Ops may just see to that...
Red Dead Redemption will probably see renewed interest when the new DLC (Undead Nightmare Pack) releases this week. Happy to see Prof Layton debuting quite strongly but not such a great debut from Vanquish, EA Sports MMA and DJ Hero 2.
