EA’s brand new first-person shooter takes top honours this week, as the latest iteration of the Medal of Honor franchise hits Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing at No. 1, following the game’s release in the region last week Friday.
According to Chart Track, this is the biggest ever launch week for a Medal of Honor game in the UK, as well as the 4th biggest Xbox 360 launch in 2010, and the 5th biggest PS3 launch of the year.
52% of Medal of Honor’s sales were recorded on Xbox 360, while 43% were seen on the PS3. PC sales of the game accounted for only 5% of copies sold.
This new release pushes EA’s other big release for 2010, FIFA 11 (sales down 65%), down to No. 2, while another debut title, Just Dance 2 for the Wii, appears as No. 3. Last week’s release in Wii Party (sales up an massive 298%) zooms up the chart to No. 4 from No. 10 last week thanks to a Nintendo marketing push, while Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 (sales down 59%) drops to No. 5 from No. 2 last week.
F1 2010 (sales down 35%) steps down two places to No. 6, Dead Rising 2 (sales down 38%) has to remain content with a spot at No. 7 (down from No. 3), but can be happy to know that it charted ahead of Halo: Reach (sales down 37%) this week, as Bungie’s title shifts down to No. 8 from No. 5.
New chart entry, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, materialises at No. 9, and the excellent Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (sales down 40%) hangs tough at No. 10, down from No. 6 last week.
