Even in the face of a host of debut game releases all jockeying for position and aiming to become No. 1 on Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing this week, and despite a 63% sales decrease over the week previous, FIFA 11 has managed to comfortably retain the top spot on the chart, importantly ahead of football rival Pro Evolution Soccer 2011.
Chart Track reveals an incredible statistic in that the launch of FIFA 11 during the week of October 2nd in the UK amounted to 10 times the sales success of Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 during its release last week.
!
Additionally, and according to Chart Track, this is the first time since 2001 (and the beginning of the franchise) that a PES game has debuted in the UK and hasn’t claimed the No. 1 spot outright. The competition for football/soccer game fans is brutal.
Dead Rising 2 (sales down 34%), meanwhile, is a non-mover at No. 3, F1 2010 (sales down 64%) drops two places to No. 4, Halo: Reach (sales down 43%) steps down to No. 5 from No. 4 last week, debut title Castlevania: Lords of Shadow shows up at No. 6 during its first week on sale, and another new game on the chart, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, appears at No. 7.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 (sales up 6%) takes a walk from No. 6 last week to No. 8, Just Dance (sales up 32%) surges back into the Top Ten and claims No. 9, and yet another debut title, Wii Party, introduces itself at No. 10. Two other new titles to the UK chart this week include WRC: FIA World Rally Championship, which debuts at No. 11, and NBA 2K11, which shows up at No. 19.
