An image of an English, ‘PAL’-branded red anniversary Wii box recently surfaced on the ‘net, leading to wild speculation (and focussed speculation, too) that this version of Nintendo’s home console will also be heading to European retailers later this year.

This follows the reveal that a special 25th anniversary Super Mario Bros. Wii, coloured red, will be released in Japan on November 11th.

The European red Wii bundle, if it exists, will include a pre-loaded game, just as the Japanese version of the console does, but instead of an altered special edition of Super Mario Bros., European consumers will get the original Donkey Kong.

Even better, a copy of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Wii Sports and the new WiiMote Plus will also be included in the bundle!

Unfortunately, no such release reports have surfaced for a North American version of this console…
