Konami bringing classic X-Men arcade game to XBLA and PSN “soon”

X-Men Arcade Logo and Start ScreenMore news coming out of New York Comic-Con this past weekend was the announcement that Konami’s 1992 ‘X-Men’ arcade side-scrolling brawling game will be making an appearance on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the PlayStation Network “soon” (or ‘December’).

In addition, the game will reportedly feature a drop-in online cooperative mode for up to six players, with playable characters comprising Cyclops, Colossus, Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler and Dazzler. As in the original game, you can’t duplicate characters (i.e. every player will have to choose a different character).

Online leaderboards will also feature in the XBLA and PSN port of X-Men, while Konami will be including the option to switch to the Japanese version of the game, too, which can drastically alter the way the game plays out as in this iteration of the game, enemies will drop health and power items when defeated, while other gameplay changes are also present.

Not much else is known about the port at the moment, but you can watch a trailer captured at Comic-Con to get in the mood for classic gaming below:
