Nintendo DS is Japan’s favourite console for 2009

Nintendo DSAccording to data posted by Japanese game magazine Famitsu, Nintendo’s DS was (by far) the best selling console in Japan over 2009, racking up sales of just over 4 million units, contributing to lifetime sales of 29 million units for the console in the region.

The second-best selling console in Japan last year was the PSP, followed by the Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360.

    • Life to date: 29,160,589 units sold
  • PSP Sales
    • 2009: 2,307,971 units sold
    • Life to date: 13,386,455 units sold
  • Wii Sales
    • 2009: 1,975,178 units sold
    • Life to date: 9,501,999 units sold
  • Playstation 3 Sales
    • 2009: 1,727,041 units sold
    • Life to date: 4,391,407 units sold
  • Xbox 360 Sales
    • 2009: 331,706 units sold
    • Life to date: 1,197,873 units sold
