During Capcom’s Xbox event earlier today, it was announced that Gears of War protagonists, Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago, would be appearing in the publisher’s upcoming action adventure game Lost Planet 2, most likely as exclusive downloadable content, or specially included character skins for cooperative play.
Well, that’s what we thought anyway…
Thanks to a new video that’s found it’s way onto Mother Internet, it now looks as though Marcus and Dom are fully entrenched in the actual story of Lost Planet 2, or at the very least, a chapter within it, which brings into question all kinds of continuity and universe crossover plot holes.
Are Gears of War and Lost Planet set in the same universe? In the same solar system, even? Have these civilisations been aware of one another for long? Does any of this even matter?
I guess it doesn’t really matter, no, and the video could very well just be an artist’s impression (it’s not in-game footage), but it very definitely is a little weird.
You can watch the video below, where Dom and Marcus take down an Akrid enemy in the snowy planes:
It’s like a chocolate and peanut butter situation, wouldn’t you say?

Comments:
This is definitely weird...and is it just me or is the sound a little tinny?
Anyway, after this week's announcement that Nathan Hale and the Chimera, along with Cole and Zeke from inFAMOUS and Sev and a Helghast soldier from Killzone 2 would be appearing in the new Uncharted 2 DLC I am prepared for anything.

What's next Mario teaming up with Salem & Rios in Army of Three?
Nice to see collaboration between the gaming studios though.
Yeah, that video wasn't exactly... aherm... official.
More crazy than all of this would be Mario and Sonic showing up in a single title and competing against one another in a series of athletic games! The sky would rain frogs, it would!
this clip is certainly a handy-cam clip, or its a devious attempt to make it seem that way... it does seem authentic though :)
and your peanut butter and chocolate analogy does not really work... Lost Planet and Gears of War are both great... peanut butter is not that great. so this is more a chocolate and banana situation... both great on their own, awesome together...
I was channelling Cliff Bleszinski himself, what with his constant references to the 'chocolate and peanut butter situation' when talking about the chainsaw gun in Gears of War 1 and 2 development diaries.
Sheesh! ;)
Oh yeah, Cliffy B! ;) Incidentally I think chocolate is better by itself...not ruined by peanut butter or banana.
Does anyone else read these comments? :) ... I happened to indulge in - wait for it - DOUBLE DIPPED PEANUT BUTTER AND CHOCOLATE pretzels on the flight from New York to JHB, and they were goooood... so chocolate and peanut butter are double awesomeness.
Also, I don't get the big furore about this, because we had Yoda duking it out in Soul Calibur IV long before this... and it was LAME!
I don't know, I kind of like it when games crossover. Although I agree on the whole Yoda thing!
What would be a cool cross-over is Serious Sam and Duke Nukem. That would be cool.
